week - many questions will be answered, but most likely many more
will come up! NEW!

Indianapolis at New England *Thursday* |
![]() |
Revenge factor of course favors Indy,
and the SuperBowl hangover theory also favoring the boys from Indy. But
consider the Pats head coach and experience - perhaps those both out
the window. Colts simply not the same team on the road and get
a very tough starting assignment against a team with few weaknesses
- and maybe even an improved offense from a SuperBowl Champ! |

Jacksonville at Buffalo |
![]() |
We expect the Jags to make some waves
this season. Improvements on D will help, a healthy RB and young
star at QB makes this team one to watch. We could be proven wrong
quickly - if they can't win at Buffalo in September they won't win
many on the road. Not convinced Buffalo has come as far just
yet. Do expect to see safe offenses on the ground and both defenses
to be ahead of the offenses. Bills 'under' in all 8 home games last
season and in 14 of last 16 overall. |

Detroit at Chicago |
![]() |
Frankly, not impressed by either team
enough to give too much support. We think Detroit will surprise
some people this season - maybe even by starting with a road win to
break a 24 game road losing streak!?! New head coach in Chicago
- and old Bears head coach now the D cordinator for the Lions - take
the points. |

Detroit Lions +3 |

Baltimore at Cleveland |
![]() |
Jamal Lewis seems to own the Browns
and their defense allowed Cleveland just 13 points in two matchups
last season. Not sure Jeff Garcia is the answer and although
impressive Lee Suggs is still young. |

Baltimore Ravens -3 |

San Diego at Houston |
![]() |
Impressed by Houston who made a lot
of progress a season ago - they should continue to improve. However,
their weakness remains against the run - and that means a big day for
Tomlinson and this game staying close. We like the Texans - but
not by 5 just yet - even over San Diego. |

Oakland at Pittsburgh |

We believe the Steelers still have
far too many problems on defense to being laying points - even at home. Don't
know that the Raiders are going to be much better than last year -
but early in the season Gannon should be sharp prior to the beating
of a long NFL season. Close game. |

Arizona at St. Louis |
![]() |
Never in a big hurry to lay such a
huge number in the NFL, particularly in Week 1 - but if the Rams are
ON (and certainly their focus was an issue many times last season)
this is a mismatch all the way. Cardinals had some optimism during
the off season, but injuries and some disappointments in pre-season
have hurt their outlook. Rams with some offensive line issues
but healthy at key spots for a change. |

St. Louis Rams -11 |

Tampa Bay at Washington |
![]() |
Joe Gibbs will make an immediate impact
on this team - that does seem to have the talent to win. Too
many intangibles favoring the home team in this one. |
![]() |
Washington Redskins -2 |
![]() |
Dallas at Minnesota |
![]() |
Dallas not a great road team right
now - and their offense didn't really seem to improve in the off season. The
Vikings and Randy Moss should benefit as much as anyone from the 'new'
'hands off' NFL policy for WRs. The Vikings have some RB injury
concerns - but they also have plenty of depth. |

Minnesota Vikings -4.5 |

NY Giants at Philadelphia |
![]() |
Again leary of laying more than a
TD anytime in the NFL, again - especially in Week 1. But the
Eagles hold many advantages and should feast on Kurt Warner who simply
doesn't seem to have it anymore. |

Philadelphia Eagles -9.5 |

Atlanta at San Francisco |
![]() |
This one seems to be setting up for
an upset. Vick has been hobbled all pre-season and got very few
reps in a new system - not good. The Falcons D has been weak,
and we don't see where they improved. Certainly the 49ers were
terrible last season - but better as the season went along. Rattay
looked good once finally in the lineup during pre-season (he's not
learning a new system). We were surprised to see the Falcons
favored on the road - the points are a gift, the money line maybe a
good idea as well! |

San Francisco 49ers +3.5 |

Kansas City at Denver |
![]() |
Both defenses should be better - and
both should have a good idea of what to expect in this divisional rivalry
game. Chiefs not great on the road - and this is as tough as
the road gets for KC - the Broncos absolutely fired up for this one. |
