Here's an overview of my thoughts on the 2009 NCAA Men's March Madness Basketball Tournament...
Note - these are general thoughts on the tourney and do not necessarily reflect any pick that is or will be made against the spread in any game. These were posted before the brackets came out:

* We'll see more upsets this year than in any recent years.

* The total number of the seeds in the Final Four will be one of the highest in history. This after last year was the first time ever all 4 Number 1 Seeds made it to the Final Four with Kansas winning it all!

* There at least 8 teams just as capable of losing in the first round as they are of getting to the Final Four and winning it all.

* At least 3 double digit seeds will make it to the Sweet 16.

* At least one #1 seed will NOT make it to the Sweet 16. At least 2 will not make it to the Elite Eight.

* My Final 4 Prediction (before the brackets are out): UConn, Duke, UCLA, Michigan St

POST BRACKET Annoucement Thoughts:

First #1 Seed to Lose: Pitt - If Blair gets in foul trouble, Pitt will be done. I would have said UNC because they don't play D consistently enough but they got a nice draw.

Easiest Region: West in an easy call.

Toughest Region: East in a close call. The regions are nicely balanced.

My Final Four Prediction (after seeing the brackets): Michigan State, Memphis, North Carolina, Villanova
Odds I'm exactly right: 3%
In previous years I'd say as high as 50% but this year is WIDE OPEN in my opinion.

Best 1st round shocker chances (remember, this does not necessarily indicate my against the spread picks): Arizona, North Dakota State, VCU, Western Kentucky, Temple, Miss St.

Best Cinderella chances (double digit Sweet 16 teams): Arizona, Miss St, Western Kentucky

Best 1 Seed: UNC
Best 2 Seed: Duke
Best 3 Seed: Villanova
Best 4 Seed: Xavier

Best 5-9 Seeds: Siena, Marquette, Texas, Florida St, Oklahoma St
